That Other Slurping Sound, On the Other Hand
Was approximately one-and-a-half kegs of Guinness being sucked down at Mackey’s last night. My friends are such alcoholics.

*Ahem.*

We revisited our high school days (or elementary school days as the case may be) last night (this was at some point towards the end of the first keg) with a rousing round of I Never. As the handbook says, “As the game progresses, the statements tend to get more personal and explicit.” Any more details than that would render this site off limits in no time. In summation: I did not know you could do that.

How badly do you want that to be a link?

That Huge Slurping Sound You Hear
Is all my creativity draining away. I don’t know what the deal is…I seem to have hit the metaphoric brick wall. I would much rather have slammed into a real one — this lack of output is much more painful, I believe. Maybe it’s the rain. I’ll blame it on the rain.

Dang!
Above.net is experiencing some serious outtages. So, stranger-ink.com is unavailable. Figures. On the one day I’m mentioned in someone else’s blog…*sigh*.

I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank C I Host for not being down, and thus preserving at least half of my creative output for the day.

My first fan e-mail. Lasara says my work is poignant. Ooh! A self-referential link…I wonder if that’s ego overkill?

Ninety-six Bucks for Chocolate Cake?!

Ninety-six Bucks for Chocolate Cake?!
With apologies to Tom Brokaw and NBC, the Fleecing of America is actually taking place at 1624 U Street NW, Washington, DC, home of the most nefarious money-making scheme known to man: the Chi Cha Lounge. Someone needs to notify Bob Kur.

Maybe I’m outta touch, relegated as I have been to my own special world where the only drinks in existence are reasonably priced Guinness and G&Ts (er, imbibed separately, of course), but eight bucks a pop for a shooter* seems a little extreme, if not downright un-American.

Chi Cha is constantly full of bad tab karma. This is why I insist on being billed separately. Burned one too many times. Which is a shame, because frankly the Chi Cha Lounge is one of the most comfortable places for lounging and drinking (aside from my futon of course) that I’m aware of. And they have food. Good food. Despite everything else, I recommend a visit. Just don’t let anyone else on your tab.

Sigh. It’s going to be a while before I can coerce — er, convince — my friends to go there again.

To make up for Friday’s bad bar experience, Saturday we went down to the Air and Space museum, where the Earth Day organizers were hosting a schwanky little affair for a few hundred of their closest friends. We shut the place down. (Never been able to say that about a museum before.) Ignore any stories you might have heard about one of us waking up on Sunday morning inside the Spirit of St. Louis.

*Chocolate Cake (of which I can find no documentation for on the web, so therefore it doesn’t exist) consists of equal parts Frangelico and Citron. Maybe. I think Laurie or one of her bartending friends might have made it up. Maybe if she reads this, she’ll set the record straight.
