60 minutes just aired a segment discussing how students in Department of Defense Schools score higher on tests than students in civilian schools. (While the upshot is that DoD schools operate in controlled enironments lacking parallel in the civilian world, there is some hope that civilians can look to the DoD as a model for solutions to the problems rampant in today’s public schools.)
