Allow me to add a “woo-hoo!”
Sunday, December 29th, 2002Woo-hoo!
And, here’s why.
Woo-hoo!
And, here’s why.
So, it’s Sunday. It’s 1PM. I turn on CBS (WUSA TV [4100 Wisconsin Ave, NW, Washington, D.C. 20016] for those of you who hopefully will be writing nasty complaint letters on my behalf), anxious to watch the New England Miami game. What do I get? Stupid knife set commercial. WTF?! Would someone please explain to me why a tv station would rather broadcast fluff advertising as opposed to one of the AFC’s most crucial end of season games? It’s not like I’m within the blackout range of Gilette Stadium. I’m in DC for f!ck’s sake!
I should’ve gone down to Murphy’s in Old Town. But no, I decided to watch the game from the comfort of my own home. This’ll teach me.
So, of course being the web geek that I am, I turn to the web (I’ll preempt your comments here by adding that my stereo isn’t getting much in the way of reception right now) for my Patriots fix. To add insult to injury, the webcast from NFL.com is using a Miami station for coverage, so I have to deal with their obvious bias. Also, it’s running way behind ESPN’s NFL GameCast Live, so I’m reading the play-by-play descriptions before I hear them. Whine, whine, whine.
The worst part is of course it’s almost halftime and we‘re behind 21-7.
At least, according to Scientific American. So says this joker, anyway.
“WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) — Neighbors of Vice President Dick Cheney are being shaken and rattled at least once a day by mysterious blasts on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory where Cheney lives.
The Navy says the explosions are part of a construction project that has been going on for several months now, but won’t say more because the project is classified.”

Finally, some of the white stuff. We haven’t had a decent snow here in years, so I’m pretty excited.

Unfortunately, I won’t be taking many pics today — what you can’t see in the pic is the tiny little ice pellets being pelted at me by the wind. Nasty. So, I’ll wait for things to calm down a bit then maybe wander down to the Hill; I still need a decent pic for some custom-made holiday cards and time’s running out.
Anyway, all you kids out here in the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast, enjoy your snow day. If you work for fascists, now might be a good time to call in sick and go make a snowman instead.
