Political Graveyards

Just when you think you’ve seen the database to end all databases…another one comes along. Of course. This one is interesting in a “I can’t believe someone bothered to do this” kind of way; but then, most databases have that some intrigue level.

Anyway, without further ado: The Political Graveyard (The Internet’s Most Comprehensive Source of U.S. Political Biography, or, The Web Site That Tells Where the Dead Politicians are Buried*). [link via Dad. Thanks, Dad!]

* be thankful it tells where the dead ones are buried.

Street Wars

“I was in charge of a addVice party and knowing the party hound OJ is, I invited him. I even made to sure he RSVP’d. I was outside Eleven when I saw him roll up. He looked so happy-go-lucky I felt kinda bad when I squirted him. Oj was so confused when it went down I had to squirt him a couple more times to make it sink in. “I didn’t even suspect you!” He exclaimed and started squirting me. The funny thing is, he lifted his shirt and tucked in the waist of his pants were two small water guns. He thought he was so prepared.”

It’s kinda funny, but kinda weird, and I think if anyone tried it in this city they might be accidently gunned-down by jittery homeland security agents. This woulda been fun in, say, the 80s.

It really is made of cheese

So, you know how Google occasionally mods their logo to recognize a particular day in history (for example, on Van Gogh’s bday, their logo had a “starry night” kinda feel (or was it crows? dangit!))?

Well, today they’re honoring the first manned moon landing. Not only did they do some clever stuff with Google maps, but they retained their whimsical side while doing so. Zoom in as close as you can and you’ll see what I mean.

And then say to yourself, “Self, would it really be as awesome as I think it would be to work at Google?”
