So apparently this was announced earlier this year, but I somehow missed it. Jeff Bezos is launching (har, har) a space venture called Blue Origin. Like, with rockets and stuff. WTF? More here and here.

Google’s Ten Golden Rules

Today over on Newsweek — err…MSNBC: Google: Ten Golden Rules. The best one, imho:

Eat your own dog food. Google workers use the company’s tools intensively.

Can you imagine working there and using, say, Yahoo! Maps for directions to the next office party? If you don’t believe in your own product, what’s the point. Anywho, the other rules are good, too, but for the most part they seem, well, obvious. I’m no business major, but shouldn’t every business operate with similar rules?

Study Suggests Caffeine Can Help Liver

Hmm…maybe this explains why my liver still works. After five lifetimes of Guinness in the span of half a one, the ol’ detoxifier is still doing its thing:

Coffee and tea may reduce the risk of serious liver damage in people who drink too much alcohol, are overweight or have too much iron in the blood, researchers reported yesterday.

A D.C. jail inmate who police say wounded four people in a hail of gunfire at a Northwest Washington nightclub was mistakenly released from custody more than a week ago and remains at large, the D.C. Corrections Department said yesterday.
