Why Hosting at Site5 is a good thing.

I host most (those that aren’t here will be here soon enough) of my sites with Site5. Why? Not only do they have a solid hosting product, but they also make their company stand head and shoulder above the rest with what seems like a “cool new feature” every couple of months. On top of that, they just make geekery seem cool. To wit, not only do their engineers have their own blog, but they also started making their activity logs publicly available. (Seems like Trevor has the most sarcastic tone in his log entries (see 45242 and 4515 as an example) — which of course is what makes reading someone else’s change log worth looking at…

Robot moved by a slime mould’s fears

A bright yellow slime mould that can grow to several metres in diameter has been put in charge of a scrabbling, six-legged robot.

The Physarum polycephalum slime, which naturally shies away from light, controls the robot’s movement so that it too keeps out of light and seeks out dark places in which to hide itself.
