Finally! Google Calendar is here

In the meantime, I’ll banish insidious thoughts of how Google will rule the universe (The Google Universe(tm) of course) and just wallow in my Google Love.

Google Launches Web Calendar
Google Inc. released a calendar software system today that can scan e-mails or Web pages for dates and times and, with one click, automatically log pending plans into an online calendar.

Free Expression? Not in D.C.

Every resident who put up a sign to protest Chevy Chase real estate agent David Cai’s subdivision of the lot he bought a few months ago has received a gift from the District: A violation notice and an order to remove the sign or pay a $2,000 penalty. The city says its building code allows campaign signs but not lawn signs expressing personal opinions.

Cherry Tree at the Tidal Basin

So this year, I woke up before dawn so I could get to the tidal basin by sunrise…and before the tourists. Of course, a few hundred people already had the same idea. Seriously, they must’ve been down there even before sunrise. There were some diehard photogs down there — I was suffering from some serious lense envy. But, as this pic proves, you can get good photos with any lense…even if it’s the lame 28-90mm telephoto that shipped with your camera four years ago.
