From BioShock to The Age of Turbulence

September 20th, 2007

I feel as though I’ve been bombarded by references to Ayn Rand over the past few weeks. From my latest XBOX 360 purchase, BioShock, to Alan Greenspan’s recently released book, The Age of Turbulence, Rand is repeatedly credited as an influence or inspiration. I’ve never really known much about Rand, her novels, or her philosophy, but after all this indirect attention, my curiosity was been piqued.

I wasn’t sure where to start, but some quick Googling found for me this recommended reading list (including a suggested order of reading) on the Ayn Rand Institute web site. So, it looks like I’ll be starting with The Fountainhead. This paperback comes in at 720 pages, so it’ll be a little while before I can report back to you my thoughts on Rand’s fiction.

Have you read The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, or any of her other books? Use the comment form to share your opinions.
